Knitting & Crochet Week

Knitting & Crochet Week

One year from now, when the 5th Knitting & Crochet Blog Week rolls around, where do you hope your crafting will have taken you to? What new skills, projects and experiences do you hope you might have conquered or tried?

Knit has fascinated me with its texture and the fineness(compared to crochet). And so I have started to knit recently.
And when you are bitten by a bug, whatever u saw inspires you to create. Yes, On the same day I saw my friend wearing a cabled pullover and I desired to knit it.
So A year from now,I’m looking forward to master the skill of knitting and complete the cable pullover.

It is something similar to this

This is a top down sweater of an adult male which is my husband and I wish to knit a similar one in yellow or orange or pink or purple for myself, when I finish the just cast on sweater for my daughter ๐Ÿ™‚

4KCBWDAY6 – A Tool To Covet Write about your favorite knitting or crochet (or spinning, etc) tool. It can either be a tool directly involved in your craft (knitting needles or crochet hook) or something that makes your craft more pleasurable โ€“ be it a special lamp, or stitch markers.

So Here is mine, A took to Covet.

Guess what is that?? What is inside?

My sewing skills are near to zero but I loved to own a sewing machine for long long time.
Recently I bought one and it is my treasure tool.

I wish I could spend more time with my treasure tool and get to know all the possibilities it can offer.
Nevertheless, there should not be panic in hobby and when time comes, I’ll definitely will have happy hours with my machine.

4KCBWDAY5 – Day 5 Only a Bit of Felix Felicis

Hi All,

Again I got stopped becoz Day 5 of the blogging week is about blogging differently.

4KCBWDAY5 “Something A Bit Different” Itโ€™s the annual challenge to blog in a way different to how you normally blog. You may choose to create a podcast, or vlog, create a wordless post or write in verse. You’ve already stretched your wings with an infographic, now it’s time to freestyle. You can post on any topic you like, but be sure to post in a style different from your usual blog presentation.

Well, A bit different seems to be the toughest things to blog.
This blog mainly showcases the crochet, occasional sewing and almost non existent embroidery projects, I cannot include any of these 3 in my different post.

Infact, I thought not-posting will be a difference, ha ha it will be considered usual here.

I thought of many different topics which I’m kind of comfortable with like books, sharing the books I read in the past. Favorite author etc etc.
But it is not as different as a reader would expect.

I ran short of ideas, I ran short of time long back, so no hurry on that anyways ๐Ÿ™‚

So finally I decided to blog about a recent well planned one day outing with which we ran out of luck but still we managed.
We here refers to Yours truly & another very friendly friend. Here I’m saying very friendly bcoz I dragged her here & there and almost unknown (Unknown for her, Almost unknown for me :-D) streets of bangalore and still she never complained.

So the story begins here, My friend was in need of particular item which she bought & then ran short of. Her original source said It is out of stock & no timeline given on when they can get it back, if at all they can get back.
So I suggested for a trip to commercial street to get the hmmm..item.

Ideally we would have preferred a weekend for everybody’s comfort, but she was going out of town. And you can understand, when women set their mind on shopping, they cannot postpone it very far. So we decided on weekday which is Workday;Time 3:00 PM. Not bad, few hours of work time which we can compensate later was our contemplation.

But things were decided to happen differently ( Wow, so there was first difference!!)
Our work, not only kept us occupied till 5:00 which is our usual office last hour, it also gave a push & settled nicely that we were stuck to our places till 6:00.

Hard hearted we were, I quickly rushed to cafeteria & got some parcels for we decided we are Going Definitely !! and obviously will feel hungry.
Then the moment we stepped out, it started Raining!!..
That was Bangalore’s first rain of the season ( come on it is Summer, it can never rain now & why it should be today?? )

Again, Definitely is a word we both uttered at the same time, we jumped into an Auto & asked him to take us to Commercial street.

I generally respect everyone, but with Auto Drivers I’m more worried about my respect. For what words will come out of their mouth, might leave us sleepless for days. So it is my friend who bargained against the Rain & Rate & we started our well planned!! journey.

It rained, traffic, our bags were getting wet and it rained more.
Our Quick snack which we mindfully bought was still hot, so it was Hot hot samosas with ketchup and some wedding sweets given by a colleague raised our spirits.

Afterall, we are safe in Auto, we have made a deal with him so no swear words there. It is raining outside, we are decently comfortable inside & having samosas. After all Life is Beautiful, Samosas are Tasty.

So after more rain, more traffic & few more samosas, we reached Commercial street.
As fast as we got down, I dragged my friend to side roads & then to side lanes & then to the cross streets, it was quite dark & I was going with a vague memory ,recollecting the right roads.

Finally we reached where we wanted to reach. We took out what we wanted to ask & buy. Alas, it was not there, what we assumed to be so commonly available became a rarity here! So unfortunate for us.

We did try few more shops, binged on other things to compensate our depression & came back home late at very dark hour.

So where is the bit of Felix Felicis..

Here is one of my purchase turned into a handle for this bag.

And a bracelet for my friend I made from the purchase of beads in commercial street.

2013-03-03 20.34.43

Now for curious heads, what was the item?? It was none other than ………….

Yarn.. Not very uncommon, simple Vardhaman Millennium in honey red color.
Alas, we did not get it.
Did we buy any contrast color? No. My friend decided to Rip & start.

Rip ??? 1/2 of the skirt.. Well that is another story.

Atlast, kindly ignore if you don’t find it Different, This Different thing is really difficult actually.

So Right now,

4KCBWDAY4 – Day 4 Colour Review

Hi All,

So continuing my snail posting for the Knitting & Crochet Blog week, Here is the Day 4 topic

4KCBWDAY4 Colour Review :
What are your favourite colours for knitted or crocheted projects. Have a think about what colours you seem to favour when yarn shopping and crafting.

Only after writing this part of your post should you then actually look to see what colours you have used in your projects. Make a quick tally of what colours you have used in your projects over the past year and compare it to the colours you have written about. Compare this, in turn, to the colours that are most dominant in your yarn stash โ€“ do they correlate?

Now think back to your house animal – do the colours you have chosen relate to your animal in any way – if you are in the house of peacock, for example, are your projects often multicoloured and bright?

A year or 2 back, I was a novice in crochet, but not only in crochet, in choosing the colors for the projects too.
From the beginning, I have unaccountably fallen for all multicolored or variegated( as it is called) threads. And to add to your curiosity, I was doing Doilies most of the time.
So imagine my doilies in bright red-blue-green-orange threads and in shaded yellow with less or even very less or no pattern visible at all.

Alas, but I learnt, I slowly (read few more purchases of variegated yarns) moved to slightly shaded ones and then completely to solids.
So till today I could not resist any shaded yarn, they attract me like magnets.
But I resist, so you can see some of my projects in solid colors but again I use so many colors in a project that I recently got a feedback from my neighbour on my Circle of Love.

2013-04-10 03.11.33

Neighbour: It is very colorful!!.
Innocent I was, delighted by the praise thanked the person.
Me: Thank You, it was indeed colorful. I liked using them you know. I specifically bought all the colors to make something like rainbow, hmmm that is my next project.

But Now she gave a clear feedback,
N: It would have been better if you have used only 2 colors for all flowers & repeated them.

Oh.. I understand now.
But much difficult it was for me to move from variegated yarns, I don’t want to take this as a positive feedback & feel unhappy with my monochromatic projects.

So confidently shaking my head in all directions I recited…

Me: No No, these things must be colorful. Actually I made this to teach my daughter all the colors..And you know it worked.
She can say all the colors used in that project.

N: Oh ho.. Good it is.

So that is my basic knowledge in colors & Reviews..Oops Color Reviews ๐Ÿ™‚

As a last note, I like all rainbow colors, all shaded & variegated yarns, my favorite color is Red. Next in the line is Blue & Yellow.
My favorite colorful projects from my project page in Ravelry.

And one more here ๐Ÿ™‚
I went & looked at my projects in Ravelry. I see many variegated & many more colorful projects.
Happy to know that I’m aware of reality ๐Ÿ™‚
My Projects in Ravelry….

And now, I’m lot more related to House of Bee in this case, Bees are certainly attracted by flowers & no need to say Flowers are colorful ๐Ÿ™‚ Isn’t it?

Thanks All,
Have a great day.

So here goes my infographic..

yes yes I understand, there is nothing in it so it can no way be better than something..
Oh so much confusion with words..
I have just tried to make a pie chart with information only I know it is how many project I have done in each craft.

I’m going off…
Take Care,
