Guinness Record :-)

Hello All,
I’m here after a long time and have news to share.
First, I received my Guinness certificate and here it is.

For documentation, the MICQ group wanted a photo of the participant and the certificate. So, Here I’m again flaunting my certificate infront of the DSLR.I dont own one, one of my friend kindly helped me in taking this picture.

Just a recap, these are my 4 blankets which I did for the record.

I enjoyed making these blankets. When I joined, it was just for the joy of doing crochet along with a online group ๐Ÿ™‚ I could not meet even the members in bangalore group as I had some or other personal work during those days. But yes we are in touch online, so it is almost the same you could say.

I doubt whether I would participate in another such journey, making the blankets is just one part of the this achievement. A lot of co-ordination and people management required here. I can say it was all well managed. Personally I found it difficult to follow/adhere too.

Guiness Record

As I mentioned in my previous post about the Blankets made for the Guiness Record.

We acheived !!!

The Crochet blanket we made and joined measured 11,148.5 sq.mtrs. The previous record was is 3377 sq.mtrs. The new record is nearlyย 3 times of it.

Here is the certificate received in the name of ย Mother India Crochet Queens. The individual certificates is in the process ๐Ÿ™‚

Kudos to the team and the Co-ordinator Ms. Subhashri Natarajan.

And my blanket recap ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello All,

Are you thinking What a Strange title?
Yes there is story behind. Pls hang on.

I read this word first in a technical document in my first year of work. I did not understand much and just deciphered it something like continuous and remains continuous.

Recently when I showed my sling bags , I received a comment saying “How did you do that in your limited hobby time?”
Yes, I do take care of family, cooking, full time job and yet try to do something or the other in spare time.
Infact when I post something here, it was as in-progress for months together.
These sling bags were made in various 15-20 mins sitting. And it took long time for me to finish them. When I say long, it was really long time. Say the first bag took me 2 weeks though it is simple zipper with 2 seams which people finish in less than an hour. And when I made many such bags, it took long long time ( I can go on putting many longs here ๐Ÿ˜€ ).When I did that, I learnt many things, like making the handles for all the bags in one go( yes it took me a week) and then attaching zips for bags, similar to the Assembly line in factories.

So now coming to the point, that my hobby activity is just similar to the title.
continuum -a range or series of things that are slightly different from each other and that exist between two different possibilities

Every day I add a bit of work so that the project moves slowly towards completion. The start and the finish are just the extremes and my everyday work is just a stone moved or stitch made and it goes on.
I’m putting this in my post, not for boasting or showing off that I manage hobby and work. No I’m posting it to encourage people to take a hobby and enjoy doing it.Don’t get bewildered or anxious looking at the end product. One thing at a time id definitely doable by all and when you do it, your FO will be just the same as the one inspired you. Finishing is definitely important but it is just a milestone, what counts more are the innumerable moments you spent on it.How you learn, how you understand the way things work.. sometimes silly and sometimes intelligent.
Making is fun.

Festive Wall Hanging

Hello All,

Quick Post to wish you all a Happy Navarathiri.

I made this wall hanging is the smallest possible time. Not that I was very busy. It took very less time.

2014-09-27 14.44.01

Inspiration came from

Long back I have seen this video and it was in my most fav list( do you have levels of favorite list and levels of To do list.. I have fav, must do fav, always fav, to do list, to do immedietely, to do whenever time allows,to do if you need) and well as we all know, it is only in list. In reality, lets not talk about it.. We know each others secrets ๐Ÿ˜€

During my last visit to Raja Market, I picked up these boards with the similar project in mind.
And within few days, I made this.
Mine is nowhere close to the original and primarily not neat, but I learnt few tricks when I made and ready to use next time.
(One being, not to keep so many dots everywhere)

I did not notice that the Mirrors has reflected so many details of our balcony. Otherwise I would have taken in more open space. Anyways better work next time..

There is no right or wrong when it comes to making Art

Hi All,

Yesterday I was watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with my daughter and this song caught my fancy.

“There is no right or wrong
when it comes to making art.
Making sure that you have fun
is the most important part.”

“Splash a little paint,
draw a little line.
Just make sure that you have fun
each and every time.”

Lovely isn’t it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Loved Goofy and his crafting trials.

Cya Real Soon.

Blog Award

Hi All,

I received an Award from Anu of twinhobbies

Thanks Anu for appreciating me as a Versatile Blogger.
I have high plans & hopes to improvise my blog with various interesting stuff.
The Only issue is all are in my mind, nothing materializes to the blog world.

Now to the Rules of the Award.

Thank the person who gave you this award and include a link to their blog.
Tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

Thanks Anuradha, I like Anu’s posts especially those portraying her twin little daughters. They are adorable angels ๐Ÿ™‚

1. I love books, I imagine the place, people and everthing and it mesmerizes me as they take me into a different world in less that few minutes of reading.

2.I aimed to become a culinary expert from my school & college days but I have gone in totally different direction.

3. I don’t really believe in Successful or Worthy, I like to trust people and always wish to have nice time with them.

4. I have less patience with kids, though I can play with them, tell stories or engage with them. I could hardly make them to do what I want. ๐Ÿ™‚

5. I always have some or the other thoughts running in my mind, the more I control, more chatty it becomes.

6.Recently(a year back) I started reading Jane Austen and finished 6 of her 7 novels. I re-read and re-read them often. After that, I have less liking towards current trend novels.

7.Finally my likings, I like red color , most(3/5) of my dresses are red based. I love sweet but on the verge of getting Diabetes. I love to ride 2-wheeler and fear driving a car( I have learnt it twice).I like knitting though I have started it very recently.
I always like to think and write for my blogs. I like to read the past posts and wonder how did I do that!!
Most of my time goes in blog hopping. I love pinterest too ๐Ÿ™‚ Doesn’t come as surprise right!!

4KCBWDAY2- Day 2: There is no Bee but there is Butterfly

Knitting & Crochet Week

Knitting & Crochet Week

The Second day in the Challenge is to say or show something about the House I chose yesterday.

Yesterday I chose House of Bees relating to my love for inspiring projects.
Today is almost like a continuation, it is more like a story over how a specific project got evolved.

Right from the time, I saw the French Bower Bird & the Christmas Wreath, My intention was to try something similar to that. And It went thru various cycles of thought process & trying to find patterns to make what was in my imagination and I finally I made it.

It is the Circle of Love

2013-04-10 03.11.33

It is one project where I have picked up each & every piece from different Patterns like a Bee collecting Honey from every flower.

Also the colors depicts flower & bee filled Garden. What I realize is there is no “Bee” as such in the Frame.

But nevertheless, there is a Butterfly.

And now to the details.

It is an embroidery hoop covered with crochet. I did a ch8
Then rows of sc on the ch8 turning each round.
I changed colors after 6 rows and not every alternate row( like Attic24 wreath patterns) only to avoid too many darning ins.

Tried to make mirror image of one side to another, but it did not come as expected. I think , the best way to do many colors is to go completely random.
Weaved in the threads, then dipped in water, no fevicol this time and then sewed.

Made the flowers and used some of the flowers made earlier.

Flowers are made like
Ch4 Ring u can make ch5/ch6 (to ur comfort level) as a button will anyways cover up the center hole ๐Ÿ™‚
Ch3, 2dc ch3, ss into the ring. * 5 times for 5 petals.

ch4 Ring
Ch3, 2dc ch3, ss into the ring. * 5 times for 5 petals.

I tried many other versions of butterfly but with the laura knitting cotton thickness everything was coming bigger and was disproportionate with the flowers.
So this is what I tried.

Ch5 Ring
Ch4, 3 tr ch4 ss into ring.
Ch3,2 tr,ch3 ss into ring.
Ch3, 2 tr ch3 ss into ring.
Ch4, 3 tr ch4 ss into ring.

3 tr for the front 2 feathers and 2 tr for the hind part.
Slip Stitch in between the 2 front feathers and Ch4 for the antennae.
Weave in the ends.

Heart is from Lucyโ€™s Teeny Tiny Hearts.
The outline is sc on each stitches with 2 sc on the broadest part of heart( 3rd st).
The picot is done on the previous row picot( sc,ch3,sc on same picot)

Bird is from this pattern. But the Orange bird is a trial version in opposite direction.
Also I changed the tail part. It is made like Ch2, ss into 1st ch and then sc into the same stitch.

Arranged all the buttons ,flowers, birds & butterfly and sewed them with sewing threads.
It was really tough and suggested to use thimble.

I’m happy with the project in many ways, primarily that it was appreciated by whoever saw it.
The finishing is much better than my previous projects and I have tried flowers & butterfly by myself. And before that, I tried quite a number of other patterns too.

Knitting & Crochet Blog Week 2013

Hi All,

Knitting & Crochet Week

Knitting & Crochet Week

I came across the Knitting & Crochet Blog Week 2013 in Favourite Things.

Head over here to read about more about it.

I have seen it before but never participated. Though I’m very late to the party, I decided to try it out.
It is challenge for me as
1. I blog in very random way. I tried to make 1 post every Monday but it did not happen. Either MOnday was holiday or I was busy at work or Faulty connection. Something always jinxes Mondays. Then I tried Tuesdays, Alas, similar things happen to jinx Tuesdays too. So I stopped my routine and helped the days to remain jinx-free ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Though this blog is about my craftiness, off late, I had done less and very less. Yes I have tried few things, and made some projects. But my commitment is no where comparable to other bloggers around the world.

In spite of all my shortcomings, I have decided to launch myself in this Space shuttle which will take me round for 5 days.
3 days already past, But now only I’m taking off, hope I’ll manage to make consecutive posts for 5 days.

So Now to choose my house. There are 4 houses to choose from.

And I can relate more to the House of Bee.

The House of Bee: Bees are busy and industrious, but can flit from one interesting project to the next as bright and shiny things capture their interest.

I jump from one project to another just by looking at the beauty of it. Thats how I related myself with the House of Bees. My projects are majorly inspired ones.
So now to examples ๐Ÿ™‚

I started crochet seeing these flowers in Ninu’s Blog. And after that I’m never without my hook.I made lots of these flowers but gave them away to my niece as a reward when she learned crochet and started doing enthusiastically.

My another inspired project was Attic24’s ZigZag Baby Blanket.
Well here is mine..

Baby Blanket

Baby Blanket

And my post giving the details.
It was really a proud moment for me, as this was my first big crochet project.

And then lots more on the Inspiration category..
