Not much to brag about and here are two doilies that I made during the silence period.
First one is Double Pineapple Doily which I made after getting impressed from this one.
I made it with the cotton thread I bought on Raja Market and it took 2 full hanks. I was left with not even a handful of yarn.
Throughout the last few rows, I was nailbiting and hair scratching whether I will have enough to finish or should I buy one more hank just for the last round. Finally God saved my nails as well as the doily.
The second one is Victorian Rose doily which I have already attempted here.
I actually started with Fractal doily with the group in Facebook. For some reason, my doily was very big(yes, I did with Anchor knitting cotton) and came out of shape. The colors did not work. So decided to rip it out and try in single color. Till that time, I wanted to do something and so did the already perfected ( Oops read attempted) Victorian Rose doily and really liked it a lot.
I have stuck it on the wall and it is very heavy( obviously as it is almost 3 100 gm balls of Anchor knitting cotton). I tried with double sided tape which was not strong enough, so I have used these https://www.amazon.com/Command-Picture-Hanging-12-Pack-8-Medium/dp/B000OF6X48 for extra support.
I got these from my sister in Australia, but I’m sure it must be available in Staples.
During a casual whatsapp chat, Kavitha one of Ravelry friend shared the idea of using a Doily for earring holder. And I got hooked to it,reason being, I love making doilies. They are fast in the beginning and it is hard to stop towards the ending.
And this time, it is going to be a useful item too.
So I started with Summer Splendor which was on my list for long time.
I started with the cotton thread which I used for I love doilies .
I skipped many rounds in between considering the size of embroidery frame I have.
Quickly it went and soon I completed and blocked it.
Then came the task of fixing it in embroidery frame. Again during the discussion Vimala aka Vims mentioned it is better to use fabric while fixing in frame. So I stitched the doily on a cloth and fixed the cloth on hoop the usual way.
So here it is finished.
Loved the Summer Splendor doily pattern, wishing to do one more.
See you soon with another cushion cover 🙂
Yes, I love making doilies. But I don’t know how to use them. I make them and take pics. Then it will be safe inside the cupboard.
But this time, I hope it does not remain safe in another cupboard and instead get used.
Yes I’m gifting this 🙂
My inspiration to do this doily is Ninu’s pineapple doily.
Hope you like it.
I have already made the same pattern before but did not finish as I ran out of thread. This time, I purchased the same color thread again to finish it properly.
I made this doily with the cotton thread bought in Raja Market. I bought only one skein and ran out of thread in 21st row. Later bought another skein and finished it. The color runs heavily. The thread was royal blue and after wash it is just dark sky blue.
I have a doubt whether I blocked it properly. It does look like circle, but in some angles it looks as if it is slanting on one side.
Anyways loving the complete doily.
I told you about the Daisy Sling bag right. At the same time, I was making some motifs for Inga bag, but I did not finish as I used up the yarn for the sling bag. So with the left overs, this is what I did 🙂
The pattern is Sunrise Sunset Afghan
Yellow Green is a nick name for Gems in my sister’s family.
Are you smiling or surprised.
Even we have got nicknames for places/things in our family. Like there is Supermarket called Day2day and we call it “Hogsmeade”. Remembering Something?
My Daughter calls different things with nicknames and sometimes relating it with some thing.
Like @ Airtel Symbol is always referred as “SuperSinger” 😀 with a glee.
And Yippee is not just Yippe it is Long Non Sticky Tastyyyy Yippee.
There are many.. but nothing comes to my mind right now.
Ok, lets move on and make the point. So I made a doily in Yellow Green.
Well, This doily was made as a challenge doily in Ravely. The Original pattern link is here and I made this from chart. Initially I thought I’ll make the full doily but I ran out of thread and in the rate, I was running out of thread, I realized I will not be able to make the full doily.
Second, anything I start for any other reason, other than a huge inspiration or creative urge, ends up mid way and I find reasons for convincing others. 🙂
Third, It is actually beautiful and the colors are more darker in real. Yellow is more bright yellow and the green is dark bottle green. I’m gifting this to my friend’s mom and she has already started to love this 😀
Nevertheless, I’m happy that I used up the Green and Yellow threads.
Since I have decided to use up the lavender and Green too, pls look forward for another doily in this blog.
See you all soon.
I love Doilies, it is with doilies, I started learning and doing crochet. The beautiful doily patterns and the wonder of being able to make lovely doilies from thread made me addicted to it. I have more doilies than any other crochet piece. But when I started making my BMC Between Meal Centerpiece. I lost my patience with doilies. It took forever for me to finish and that too incomplete. No more whining on it.
So here is the Doily I made and I love its look and feel. The Pattern is so beautiful, there were little confusions for me in some rounds.
Here it is My BMC in Full Glory 🙂
It is bigger than all of my doilies. And I did it with Anchor knitting cotton which made it more thicker and bigger.
All the stitches used were very simple and it is beginner level. The only skill u need is patience 🙂
to complete all the 60 rouds, especially the last rounds, when each round takes so much time.
I used Anchor Knitting Cotton thread and size 1.75 mm hook.

Oval Pineapple Doily
This is my newly finished doily. After a long time, I made this doily mainly because I found something which I wanted to use it.
Well, I saw this doily pattern first here
and in many other blogs. I wanted to try it in Anchor Knitting Cotton as it will give me a bigger doily than the usual Anchor size 20 crochet cotton. But in my locality or the nearby market where I shop I could not get the knitting cotton. So it was on my plan but on the backside.
One day, I saw this crochet thread
and decided that I will use this thread to make the doily.
I made mistake thinking that 1 bundle will be sufficient, I totally used up “3” bundles of crochet thread and the doily is now pretty big. Also I think there is a slight shade difference which I think is because I bought them on a week gap so may be from different lot or either I ironed those places very hot.
I gave a different edging to the doily other than what was in the pattern but I liked it this way.
Yes I did some mistakes but I have to console myself, there is no point in frogging and re-doing when the doily is so big. If I start frogging to correct every mistake then may be I would have never finished it.
I have decided to be more careful and read the pattern/instructions without any hurry.
Haste Makes Waste!!! I will slowly understand. 😦
So here is my pretty oval pineapple doily.
