Greeting Cloth :-)

Hi All,

Greeting Cloth

Greeting Cloth

I made this Greeting Cloth for my Aunt and Uncle. My Uncle celebrated his 80 birthday last week and I sent this as my gift.
Just some flowers and crochet edging. The edging became wavy, I tried to maintain that as a pattern itself 🙂 .

I got this idea from Ninu’s blog, but I couldn’t make it as a neat card as hers instead I gave crochet edging and made it little different.

Have a look and post your comments.

Thanks,

WIP II

Hi All,
This is another embroidery which I started just yesterday.

Peacock Design

Peacock Design

I copied this picture long back from google by searching for peacock, so I don’t have the link now. I am very sorry for it and If I happen to get it in future will definitely update the link. The original piece I think was done with only Jardosi.

I am doing this with interlaced chain and planning to decorate with different coloured Kundans. I want to use as many stones possible to make it more grand and shiny :).
But for that I needed a thick outline also, I don’t want jardosi as I am not familiar with sticking it.I know the method to stitch them and for that we have to cut them into pieces and tack them along which I don’t think will work for longer lengths(at least for me) . So settled with chain stitch. This is called interlacing chain stitch and saw this stitch long back in a TV program. It is different from checkered chain or magic chain where we have chains in alternating colors.

In this I made first line of chain stitch with red color. Later I whipped one of the arm(right side) from outside to inside finished the length and on coming back I whipped the other arm from inside to outside so it forms a braid like appearance and it looks more thick than chain stitch.
The orange and red threads combination looks very nice for this stitch but I settled with red and green so that I can use those color kundan stones.

Have a look at the pics and post your comments.
Thanks,

Work In Progress

Hi All,

If you see most of my posts are WIPs. I am not that organized or efficient when it comes to my hobby. I get only less time for hobby everyday say 30-45 mins and anything I take I will be dragging it for atleast a month.  So I take more than 1 or 2 things at a time and juggle them. Advantage is that  I’ll not get bored because of the same design, color or pattern. Secondly, if it takes more time, I can console by finishing something simple in between. 🙂

I dont crib if I dont get to complete or finish the stitching( if you see, most of my embroideries are still un-stitched) because I know I will eventually do it and finish it. I have done it in past and I have no hurry 🙂 mainly because everything I do, I keep for myself. I rarely gift them, even so I dont pre-plan the gifts, if I finish and think it is a good gift then I gift it. I never set deadline and work because I know upfront I cant match them. After all creative minds should not be stressed for deadlines 🙂

I appreciate everyone in the craft world who are able to work setting deadlines and able to match them. They are gifted people and organized over a period of time. My bows to all of them.

Coming back to my WIPs, these are the ones I am doing now.

The above design is inspired from this website.

It is really a wonderful one, have a look at the website.
This particular design is available in this tutorial. It is originally for machine embroidery but since I liked the design, colors and very much the finished cushion; I drew and traced the same design and started hand embroidery on it.

Will finish it and post the picture of completed one.

Mirror Embroidery Letter Hanger

Hi All,

I saw this Letter Hanger here and really liked it very much.
But I am not that fan of chain stitch and Aari is something I am not comfortable with.
I learnt aari from a person in Indira Nagar, may be it is lack of practise or understanding, I am not successful at it.
So I did this in my favourite mirror embroidery. I used the same design but instead of filling with chains, I used mirrors.
Also I used only 2 colors red and black on a yellow background. Somehow the photos are not showing true colors, with Flash it is too bright and without flash it is very dark, whereas in actual it is normal yellow color 🙂

For the petal kind of thing, I started with Woven picot stitch ( the right side down corner)  but then continued with woven Trellis stitch for all others ( in reverse direction, i.e I started from top and ended in base bcoz on other direction, I was getting a very pointed tip which was not matching with woven picot stitch 😦 )

I planned 2 pouches for this hanger, one is done and the other one is halfway. Also I am planning to use black stones/crystals to outline.( If I get such a thing from my nearby fancy store)

Have a look and post your comments.

Thanks,

Some Cellphone Pouches

Hi All,
These are some cellphone pouches which I made.
This one is mirror embroidery with kundans. The kundans used are the left over ones after I used them on this blouse.

CellphonePouch

The next one is from Anchor Needle n Thread Magazine, this is the simplest one available in that magazine so I tried this. 🙂

CellPhone Pouch

I used 6 strands of silk thread out of which 4 in red color and 2 in golden yellow. I have multicolor silk threads too but I liked the combination like this for such small embroideries. The chamki’s and beads are taken from my old dress. So it is a re-use component too.. 🙂

I subscribed for Anchor Needle n Thread Magazine last quarter but unforturnately never tried anything from those 2 issues I got. So I started this, which is a very easy finish. I like that magazine to read and see those pictures but I feel they are very time consuming and the technique is not explained in detail.
For Eg: I saw so many knitting, crochet patterns, but no information on how to knit or crochet, may be they assume all their readers are aware of it.To some extent, their assumption is right but still I feel there should be some detailed information on each technique when they show projects related to it.

Please post your views comments on this.
Thanks,
Sangheetha.
