Hi All,

This is my latest Embroidery finish.

The design is taken from Banjara Mirror Work Designs book.

The material is bright Orange cotton with stripes. I traced the design on the bottom part as a border. Then took only 2 motifs and placed them below the neck part in the front.

I stitched the mirrors with Silk threads in lavender, green , yellow and red colors.

Around the mirror, I embroidered small chemanthy flowers.

Colourful Mirror Embroidery

Hi All,

This is a colourful mirror embroidery done on green cloth.

Mirror Embroidery Pouch

Mirror Embroidery Pouch

These are not actual mirrors but they are silver coloured big sequins. When used, they are very light weight and gives the effect of mirrors.

But these get faded also quite quickly. They have 2 holes in them with which it can be stitched in place so it will never fall down.

I embroidered these 2 pieces and then stitched them into a pouch. I used a printed blue design for the sides to add contrast.

I attached Green zari for the front side to give more glamour to the pouch.

I have to stitch zip for the same, I am planning to use this as a lunch box cover.

Seed Stitched Heart

Hi All,

This embroidery I did some couple of years back. Both mine and DHs name start in S and so I embroidered this S & S in a heart shape.

S in Heart

S in Heart

The Heart is stem stitched and the gap between circle and heart is filled with seed stitches.

Seed stitches are nothing but straight stitches in random direction. Seed stitching is simple but time-consuming.

The human brain is so tuned to follow and find pattern in whatever it does , so if you want to stitch or do anything at random, an extra effort is required to do so.

Embroidery on Satin Cloth

Hi All,

This is another embroidery done in Satin Cloth.

Embroidery in Satin Cloth

Embroidery in Satin Cloth

The design is very simple and has only straight stitches. It was taken from “Embroidery” book by Mridula Nagarajan.

I took two design patterns and combined it.

The centre design and the sheaf stitch border was taken from one, while the corner design is taken from the other.

But it all goes well together.

Previously I posted about a table cloth design taken from that book which is also done in Sheaf stitch.

It can be used as a sitting mat or mat to display things.

When I started this, I made it to put on the back side of a quilt.

The Quilt was given away later but I dint want to part with this piece, it is one of my early embroidered stuff.

Simple Embroidery in Saree Cover

Hi All,

I did this simple and sweet embroidery and stitched it as a saree cover for myself.

The design was taken from the web and it is very easy to embroider.

Initially I did not have any plan for its usage, then I simply stitched the sides and made it as a saree cover 🙂 .

Paisley Design Embroidery in Satin

Hi All,

Today I am sharing an embroidery done by me some years back.

Paisley Design in Satin

Paisley Design in Satin

This is a free hand design embroidered to make it as a front portion of a bag.(A tote bag).

Basic stitches like herringbone, blanket, stem stitches were used.

Some of the stitches have not come well because the satin material was very slippery and this was the first time I tried in satin material.
I have some more length of same material but now I have no guts to try any embroidery on them. 😦

The material was stretched in embroidery hoop and when removed it became little shapeless.

But I liked the colours what I have tried. It has come out very colourful. I haven’t stitched it yet but someday I will do it. 🙂

Kutch Embroidery Handbag

Hi All,

Kutch Embroidery Handbag

Kutch Embroidery Handbag

This is a Kutch embroidery Handbag. It is not yet stitched as I am not confident enough in stitching.

I did this embroidery when I started learning Kutch work and mirror work. As cone thread was suggested for mirror/kutch work, I went to buy cone threads for the first time and was so impressed by this tricolour thread (yellow, orange, white ). This is the first cone thread I got and along with this I got a plain white colour cone thread also which I used later for mirror work.

I used only kutch and mirror work on this piece, for this I have made a handle strip also with only mirror work.

The design I tried out randomly without planning but it was actually inspired from Rajasthani mirror work handbags.

I liked it very much and embroidering this was challenging as I learnt kutch work at that time only.
